glug Hi Guys I bought an Ibanez concord for R550. It is a 12 string guitar. It has a model number of 884/12 looks like model but the model number is a bit warn out. Can anyone tell me more about this guitar. Year made and so on. It was made in japan.
glug I cant take a picture(no camara) but searched the net and this looks identical which is a 684/12
Squonk Geez I had the 6 string Concord, I bought it 1979 for R600.00. It was my life savings, but what a guitar. Got stolen when I foolishly took it with me to my SADF stint, never saw one again. The 6 string had the same scratch plate and fret markings. I bought 2nd hand in 1979, so I am sure these date to that period, the late 70's
andrewjbryson http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=316&now=3 my guess would be 1974
andrewjbryson actually could also be 88' or 84' as the serial suggests.... have a look on the ibanez catalogs , u will definately find it there.... I good starting clue, is the old Ibanez logo , which is clearly a different font.... , my dad's 12 string dates back to about 1975 and this also had the old ibanez logo
Reef Its a copy of a the Gibson Hummingbird from the Ibanez lawsuit years. Ibanez introduced serial numbers in 1975 so if there's no serial no there's a good chance it dates prior to 1975. Ibanez stopped making the copies around about 1978 when they started manufacturing original designs.
glug Thanks for all the replies. I found the serial in the sound hole where the neck joins the body. It is a 1975 model
DaFiz I bought the 6 string with the same colour scheme (Humingbird copy) in 1980 and swopped it for an Epiphone 12string some years later. I recently went looking for an old Ibanez Concord because she was such a hunny and I never stopped regretting losing her. I now own a plain coloured Ibanez Concord serial number 627. ?
glug I will post a pic of my ibanez soon. just need to get hold of a camara. I also need to get the back board fixed of the body witch is started to come apart. But the sound is very cool?
Dealian glug I also bought an Ibanez Concord in 1970. Now 48 years old and in perfect condition and an amazing sound.
