Cash Converters Strat - Ridiculous Price!

Hi guys, A friend of mine saw this Strat for sale in Cash Converters at Fourways Crossing. As far as I can tell it's just a USA Deluxe Stratocaster (and older one by the look of it) with Graphtech saddles and what looks like a Seymour Duncan JB Junior in the bridge pickup position... If that is the case then does anyone else think that the asking price of R28,999 is totally and utterly ludicrous?!? Perhaps one of you guys might know something about the instrument and why the price tag is so obscene? My guess is it's for sale at more than twice what it's actually worth. Here's a (bad quality) pic of the neck plate, so it's obviously not a Custom Shop specimen... I can't tell for sure but it looks to me that the neck plate has a sodding great crack across it: What do you guys reckon?

Man, that is some BS! When my Mexi Strat got stolen, they were selling it for R1500! ?

Hmmm, the pawn shop probably got it dirt cheap from a dodgy seller (probably the same bastard who stole her) and were trying to sell it on quickly because they had their suspicions about it..... >☹

This is very likely. When the guitar got stolen, I reported it to Cash Crusaders's head office, and the following day I got a call from the one branch. The manager there was all like, "We could let the police confiscate it, but it could be months before you see your guitar again, if ever... or you could pay me R1500 and take it home immediately."

Obviously I declined and had SAPS confiscate it, and within two days I had my guitar back.
