Tele pickup mounting....springs or surgical rubber tube?

Some people who know more than me about Teles, say that surgical tubing
is better for mounting pickups because springs add weird harmonics to the pickup's sound.

Anybody have experience with both?

i prefer using the tube, just works better.
i haven't noticed a sound difference between the two, i've read that you get a ring in the spring? ?

i wouldn't worry too much about it, try both and see which one works for you.

+1. I'm a spring fan because of the extra resonance - it's tiny but it's there, as long as you are not using a bridge pickup with all the life potted out of it. More prone to feedback at high volumes though, so sometimes tubing works best (especially on thinner plate ashtray bridges).

Seems that Fender fitted tubing to their guitars in the 50's and early 60's, especially Telecasters.
