Just finishing off a DIY Telecaster.
Before I drill the strap retainer holes, I had a thought...if you like to sling your guitar
a little lower than average, would it be a good idea to get the neck up a little more
by drilling the rear strap hole 1" higher than normal.
In other words, not in the exact centre of the back end of the guitar?
The body is alder, so is not super-light like ash or pine.
To me it makes some weird sense...
Your opinions please...

It does change the centre of gravity, but if you have a decent strap, it's not an issue anyway - it'll stay where you put it.

HI . I Know Im very late but Ive got two Teisco ET 200 and the Strapbuttons on them are mounted ONE THIRD from the top . and it works . SO youre dead right

Yeah it really does work.
I finished my partscaster Tele this week with the rear strap button located 3cm higher on the body.
Just let the strap out a few notches and you've absolutely got that lowdown Slash gunslinger look...
