Is it legal to exceed the speed limit on a downhill?
Didn't think so
Onus is on us I'm afraid
bingo...........a perfect case in point is voortrekkers road when you're coming over the crest in Pretoria. They love to trap outside the highschool at the top of the hill as guys moer it over the nek.
That makes sense, it is outside a school. On Jip de Jager pedestrians have a path on the other side of a safety railing. Yes speeding is illegal, but why waste a temporary camera on a stretch of road that guarantees a high income instead of doing it outside a school or on a dangerous stretch of road where it improves road safety and gets people in the habit of driving slower where it matters.
Nitebob, I agree on the busses. They have the size advantage and they certainly use it.
Two worrying stretches of road in CT when it comes to pedestrians and drivers are the N1 from Kraaifontein to the Engen and the R300 (even N2, but that is just a general hazard to all parties involved). Not so much for speeding, but people crossing the road. So many people are being hit on those 2 stretches and I don't know what the authorities are going to do about it. I don't even know if they CAN do anything.
