Nah, really, this is a great thing for musicians. And with Britain - at least at one time - counting music as one of its major exports, this can drive the kind of competition among bands that has led to great things in the past.

that's better than the law that the UK introduced a while back making it mandatory for clubs to provide a projection on the listeners to any particular music event.........they wanted to know, race, age and also what music would be played.

I don't think this is anything to do with Tory benevolence to musicians. It's about trying to reduce red tape, because red tape and the implementation thereof costs money. There's a positive spin-off here for musicians and promoters, but I doubt that's the actual reason.

Unlike SA...where two guys and machines make up most
of the casual music scene, the UK thrives and prefers
'live' music, which, in a nutshell means there's a drummer!

I was at two live gigs in the UK during my recent hols. There wasn't a drummer at either of them.

Last time I was over I went to THREE. One had a drummer.

Which is partly to do with the musical circles I engage with ?
