Very nice & congratulations Keira.
The initial jazz clips sounded rad..maybe just a tad bit bright/brittle?? The strat sound is still there though. Could it be the effect of a Fender going into a Fender style amp?
Sounds like a good all-rounder guitar now
hi ya.. well i think the sound lost a lot of bass cos it was recorded with a video cam.... and came out brighter.. however despite agreeing the video being bright ... i favour the martin taylor jazz tone which is a lot brighter than say joe pass...... i find if it's too dark it starts getting indistinct ... so yes that video is brighter than i play with but i blame the camera the bass was nice and round in the room .... however i do like a clearer sound than some jazz guitarists
? anyway that was shot in my kitchen so not ideal acoustics , i'll shoot some video at a gig
and as for the fender sound being there...... thats what i like about it ........ it's prob the bolt on neck , but if you go online and check out
Jim Soloway guitars (usa custom builder of jazz guitars with bolt on necks) his guitars also have a brighter or more clear tone.... and as Jim is quoted in saying "you can always roll off the tone to make the sound darker in a brighter guitar but you can't create brightness in a naturally dull guitar ...... "
so yes with this guitar i'm going for a personal unique sound...and NOT trying to make it sound like a ES175 with the tone rolled off
and in seeking my jazz tone ........in last 18-24 months i have owned a vintage Aria ES 175 copy from 60's, a vintage hofner ES330 copy also from late 60's, a Tokai ES155 , even a usa fender tele with a 57 classic pup in neck ........ and with all of them i had issues .....
i have found my epiphone emperor regent which gives me that traditional archtop jazz tone....... but this new guitar is meant to be a solid body guitar and NOT replace the archtop for traditional jazz tone ...but something i can travel/tour with and use when i play louder as the archtop does feedback it's huge at 17" so i was inspired by the jim soloway guitars ...and so far this fender with a few conversions is doing well to fill my needs....BUT it's still early days .lets see if any problems pop up at gigs ect ........
thanks for the observations arjun .on another note but just as important ....hows your playing going , are you gigging at moment .... ?? we need to hear your playing .....
