The most amazing thing to me were the dyes he used in the nitro so that it actually faded naturally from cherry, and checked naturally, but at high speed. You could be forgiven for thinking that these pics were taken years apart, but it was actually only a very short while:

I believe that the remaining colour is more stable, although it will fade further over time.

I'm always amazed at the number of guitar forumites who derive sexual gratification from viewing wooden objects. I'd previously believed that this was an extremely rare psychological phenomenon...
