What's kinda interesting is that the replica market tends to seem to like typical 'bursts rather than the most flamboyant that's the stock in trade of the production guitars (Gibson Historic, Navigator, Tokai, Bacchus). Often very subtle, and often distressed to look like they really are 50 year old guitars.
Putting the Gibson logo on the top is dodgy IMO. Clients demand it, and proponents say that such good guitars can hardly do Gibson's reputation any harm. But it still seems to me you could con someone into thinking they were getting a great deal on an "under-the-bed-'burst," and paying $40,000 for a $10,000 guitar.
Gil Yaron, to his credit does not do this.
