Couriering an amp Pta/Jhb to Durban

G-Man

Sorry about this odd post but I'm looking for advice from anyone with experience in this. I am looking at a few options and have tried the search function but haven't found anything recent. Need to ship an amp roughly 30kg down to me but don't want to use a company where a 'fragile' sticker is translated as 'throw me in the back of a bakkie'.

I read a thread ages ago that there was a company that specializes in moving musical equipment around SA.but I can't find anything. Also if anyone has a guesstimate on pricing that would be sweet.

Try here - http://www.collivery.co.za/ - sent and received guitars from across the country and all good. Doing a quick check, for 30kg from JHB to DBN, taking 4/5 days, will be about R175 excl VAT. Cant vouch for the way they handle the items, but I personally have had no problems, even when guitars have arrived in just a gigbag

Have some thanks. ?

Looks like they also deliver to my little dorpie so it'll save me a drive to durbs, awesome.

Great info thanks man.

No problem, think it was Alan who originally mentioned them on here. Their prices are good, they often deliver quicker than the timeframe, and on a couple of occasions, if I've overestimated the weight of the pedals or guitar or whatever, they'll come back and say its not R150, its actually R110 or something - unheard of.

I have been using Bigfoot express for a few years now with no problems.
They deliver within 2 days (working) and are really cheap.

PM Kalcium for details, he sent me a big 4x10 combo amp weighing about 40kg from durban to jburg.. It was fast, affordable and the amp arrived in one piece.

Thanked ?

Cool I'll check those out as well, shot!

I've sent large stuff via bigfoot and they get my thumbs up. They don't have an office in Pretora and so I had to deal with the jhb office. Sent so large porsche repair panels to a guy in Cape Town and was pretty surprised with the price and that included them collecting from me.

I've been using MDS Collivery for the last year or so with no problems. Guitars, amps, rack gear, cases, effects, mics - the lot. They've collected and delivered all over and are good with special instructions (you know - the "please phone when outside as the intercom doesn't work" type things - you know who you are... ?). Aubs originally turned me on to them.

Thanks and thanked. ?

@Alan; Thanks, yes now that I think about it you and Aubs were the ones talking about couriers in a thread a while back, so that's awesome. You and Giggsy have given me the name of the company I couldn't remember. ?

I was going to go with Time Freight as they brought a guitar down from JHB for me, but they are pricey.
