Hi Guys
I'm new to the forum (and to JHB). I was just wondering, regarding the above mentioned gentleman by the name of Grant, would I be able to just go to the TOMS store and ask for him by name or do I need his personal contact details to get hold of him? I used to haave my guitar setup by Gary Gibb in Durbs, but up here I don't really know where to start. I just bought my first Strat and I'd like someone who knows what he's doing to have a look.

You have options up here on the reef ? You could also go to Music Connection in Randburg (Jan Smuts Avenue) and talk to Mando. He's a good guy and you can definietly walk into the store and ask for him by name.

Andy always provided me with exceptional service. Andy had a quality control system in place and personally checked the guitars leaving his workshop. As in any business there may have been one or two mistakes that slipped through the proverbial cracks.

Andy has set up a new workshop and personally works on the instruments, therefore you can expect fantastic service and superb workmanship. I saw the couple of comments posted on this thread and if there are issues phone Andy, his number is 0826511094.

Whats the guy's nr for set up in randburg. Plus isn't there a place that will teach you how to set up your guitar

i'd go for that as well. i know what the basics of the process are, but i'm reluctant to get into the nitty gritty of, for instance, going up a string gauge - from 10s to 11s for instance. involves cutting the nut to accommodate the strings and all that. get it wrong and you replace the nut...

anyone know of anyone? or willing to give a clinic?

Yes please anyone please give us some show on how its done. And there are a variety of guitar you can with. Floyd rose bridge pick up etc. In my opinion this would take the longest to set up

Sup peeps. I'm now based in bryanston...and I am looking to take my guitar to someone for a nice setup. I think the nut has to be cut a little as fretting in the first fret takes careful control or else the notes go sharp.

Who have you guys had experience with before in the randburg/sandton area?

i've had personal experience with a good few of the guys mentioned here.

grant is excellent.
andy is excellent.
mando is excellent.

if folks on this forum are recommending folks *does best mr burns impersonation* excellent...

think your best bet - from bryanston - would be either grant @ toms, or mando @ music connection in randburg. not sure where andy's at, last i heard he was working from home?
