If you could have only one effects pedal

I was going to ask another burning house type question, as in "if your house burned down and you could save only one pedal, which would it be?" but I was afraid of getting responses again like "my pedals are all fixed to one board", "I'd grab x because y is cheaper to replace" or "I don't value earthly possessions" so I thought I'd phrase it differently: The king of the land has decreed that no more effects pedals shall ever be used again. Realising the travesty this could be to modern guitar music you set up a lobby group to besiege him to change his mind. You realise that the best you could hope to achieve would be that he'd allow the use of only one effect ever. Which is the one effect that you would lobby to retain while all others are to be abolished? I'll get the ball rolling with "Tremolo". I don't use effects much, in fact the only effect I have are those that are built into my Roland Cube 80X amp but tremolo is the one which I seem to gravitate towards. I hardly ever use phasers, flangers or even chorus. I use the looper extensively but I suppose that can be replaced by another guitarist. What I can't seem to live without is the tremolo. What is the effect you can't live without?

What "effect" does a tuner produce ? Otherwise that would 100% be my choice. ?

It has the 'effect' of making your guitar in tune with itself and with (hopefully) others. For that reason (and because I actually gig with just the pitchblack) it would be my choice too ?

With a decent, simple 50W and less, old valve amp, it would have to be an Ibanez Tube Screamer, preferably the 'Classic" -the original Tube Screamer sound with a bit of extra distortion on top. Otherwise, I'm a sucker for reverb.
