Hi all, I have a Cort acoustic. Love the guitar to bits, unfortunately though, it's got possibly the ugliest soundhole rosette I've ever seen. So I have this great idea for a custom rosette, which will unfortunately only work with a clear pickgaurd and a refinish. Herewith lies the debacle. I bought it second hand and changed the pick gaurd before, and found that it left the obvious lighter patch under the pick gaurd. Will sanding this down fix it? Will I have to stain? Should I rather save for another guit?

1) WHen changing the pickguard always put on something slightly BIGGER.
2) All of this can be done, but obviously at a cost. Speak to some appropriately skilled persons, get estimates of how much it's likely to cost and then decide if you want to spend that amount of money on that guitar.

Yeah, sanding down will work to get rid of the light patch and a good luthier can do the rosette.
