Eventually got an iPad

So I eventually caved... :-[ But so far am enjoying it. ? So what apps would you suggest a noob gets (both guitar and otherwise)?

I might have... my original iTunes account when I first got an iPod ages ago was set up as a US account. Haven't tried buying an app yet, so I guess that would be a way of finding out

You can use the same account. Nothing very exciting on the local app store. ☹

Actually, the app I spend most time with comes installed - Opera. Good second is BBC News and strong third.. Smurfs ?

GarageBand is really awesome.

some of my best are:
penultimate (note-taking, drawing, noodling and doodling etc - you can email, export direct to pdf, etc). best used with a stylus (another - free - app like this is smartnotefree)
mindmeister (very, very cool mindmapping tool, although there are plenty others out there)
must agree with imdb (internet movie database app, always invaluable)
moleskine - just because it's cool, not actually particularly useful
stickcricket - endless fun, even if only to beat the aussies, over and over again

but the best bit is (if you've got the new ipad - with the retina display) the interactive magazines. and looking at things like nat geo magazine in hd. you just can't beat it. i can't wait for my contract to expire so i can upgrade...

Absolutely agree. Magazines are so much cooler on the iPad.

As far as music related apps go, the two I use the most are the Animoog and Camel Audio Alchemy apps. Especially the Animoog.

Oh, and don't forget the hours of fun to be had with stuff like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. Stupid, time wasting, but soooo worth it ?

GarageBand
Star walker is a cool app for studying the night sky
Songbook for storing your music tabs and syncing with your iTunes library
And many, many more. Enjoy it, you won't regret the purchase ?

Thanks for the tips guys, will check them all out - got Garageband, just need to do some research on how to use it properly, and checking out some tab type apps but none so far seem too good. Star walker sounds good - will definitely get that, and I remember wasting hours at work with the pc version of stickcricket, so will have to find that!

Otherwise I'm enjoying the ease of internet radio on it, Kindle for some books I have been struggling to get here, and for my daughter too many Barbie/coloring in/dressing up apps to mention! It does bring a new dimension to bedtime stories with the interactive books, and its amazing how quickly she has picked up on the technology.
