it kind of reminded me of pink floyd in a way as well as dire straits, i have never done a clean lead on a song before, so this is something new to me

Bass and drums aren't locked in tight enough - it makes the track drag.

Did you mult the bass or is it double tracked? Maybe ease up on the drive on the second bass track a bit (think crunch instead of distortion) - it's coming across a bit too sharp and discrete from the other bass track.

yes its 2 bass guitar tracks, the main output slighty left of center, and the drive(different pickup output) panned right and and softer left.
the bass drive might be a bit to much, but this is the first time that i am using so much drive on a bass, now i know where the limits should be.

well i did the song quickly, i was supposed to be an experiment but then i ended up uploading it.

the thing is i changed the drumbeat after i recorded the bass ?
didn't really focus on the compression on the low end.

For this track I think so, yes. For another, heavier track it might just be the ticket. I auditioned with headphones, so the stereo separation between the two was pretty obvious. I usually keep them both pretty close to centre (I'm a traditionalist that way) so they mask together pretty well.

Can't help it, I hear big spring reverbs, I think Isaacs. ? Not a bad sound tho...

i'm afraid my ears aren't as finely tuned as some other folks'. i'd suggest that you take their comments into account if it's what you're after in terms of results. for me, i really like it - can definitely hear the floyd coming through - esp at around 0'53", where you change to the more staccato bass line. the guitar sounds good, although a bit much (is it?) reverb. it's a 'stremely personal thing though.

i do like the overall effect, and i like what you've done. sounds great for something you just put down 'quickly'

yes everything is abit much i agree, too much distortion on the drums, bass is too much, guitar too much reverb, if it was for something serious i would probably have done it correctly.
originally it was suppose to be a garage rock sound, thats until i came accross the guitar patches and changed everthing but kept the settings the same, stupid or lazy ?

but its something i did under an hour and then uploaded it.
my playing isn't really up to scratched, so i did the classic reverb trick to hide the mistake haha

i will hopefully start doing more of these things again, as i need to start to write music again for some film stuff
