Telkom ADSL speed upgrades

My modem is still sync'ing @ 384Kb, not sure when the big switch over is going to happen.

Anyone upgraded yet?

Customers currently on an “Up to 384 kbps” ADSL offering will be upgraded to “Up to 1024 kbps” in the next upgrade phase which will commence in October 2012.

1mbs to 2mbs upgrades starting the 24th of August.

This is a physical line speed upgrade, not an account upgrade so your account with your provider (mweb for example) may cost more per month now should you wish to make use of the faster line speed.

Sucks that they are doing the 384 lines basically last when we are "suffering" the most.

Mweb ARE doing it - cause it all comes thro Telkom. The only thing is Telkom / Mweb have already started deducting an extra ten bucks per month for this upgrade, and we will (may or may not ) see it only in October. So Mweb did all the exciting announcing of the news but when you complain and ask about the debit order going up for nothing (not receiving faster linespeed) they simply say well it's Telkom's fault ? (so you can hang on the line and complain about R10 to Telkom if you want ....)
