Just acquired some entry level pedals and now need to give them some power.

What would be the easiest way to power 4 pedals.

I have seem on the Boss site that there is a parallel DC Chord that somehow connects to a PSU.

I don't want to really spend vast amounts of money as I am only experimenting.

Also need some info about those little cable jobbies between the pedals?

Squonk, you could try the ones that Mantech supply. I bought a 9v 2.7A laptop style power supply from them for approx R 128.
I think its been posted on here before by Nick & Reinard.

For linking the power to all the pedals, I suggest that you make up a daisy chain with 2.1mm dc power connectors. RS part no is 455-132. Price is R1.75 in a pack of 10, or 487-858, R3.75 each but better quality. You might also need the 2.1mm socket, depending what's on your power supply (Could use RS part no 656-3901 with 1.8m lead price R19.58). This would also give you enough cable to make up the daisy chain. If you use a Boss TU-2 or TU-3 tuner, there is a power out socket, so you would not need the socket. Just be careful to get the polarities correct - centre negative is standard.

Most music stores will have the "daisy-chain" power cables premade. Just use one of those with a PSU. The Mantech supplies are good, but are the wrong polarity, so you have to swap around the wires plug.

I'm also using one of these as recommended by Nick & Reinhard. It cost me R100ish plus VAT for the PSU and the correct socket. Got a daisy chain to power all the pedals and am very happy so far.

Do you mean the patch cords for taking the signal from pedal to pedal or the daisy chain for routing power to from the PSU to each pedal?

Daisy chain's been spoken about already. If you're talking about the patch cable you can buy them pre-made at most music shops (price and quality varies) or make them up yourself. I bought some planet waves ones once I had a couple of pedals but will probably make a few my own to exactly the lenght I need once I've finished building my board. If you just want to experiment, you also get those multi-coloured cheapies.

And here's the socket you will need to solder on if your pedals have the standard Boss type centre negative power inputs - the one from Mantech is centre positive.

Mantech are in Laub St. I've found it quicker and easier to order whatever I want online and then stand in the collection queue rather than asking in-store; it can get quite busy in there.

I dont want to High jack this but i have the following scenario .

I have a Mix Boss, Ibanez , Line 6 pedals and a Fulltone OCD .

Would it be possible to go for the Daizy chain solution even though I have pedals from various vendors ?

As far as I know, it should be fine as long as they can all run off the same voltage and are of the same polarity (or you use adaptors for those that differ) and the the total current of all the pedals doesn't exceed that of your power supply.

While it's possible, it may be more hassel than it's worth. I'd say go for a good BBE Supacharger or a Voodoolabs pedal power and be done with it.

You should check your polarity for sure. That will be the biggest issue. The power input jack of the pedal should show a small drawing of a circle with a dot in the middle and polarity indicated on each (sheath and centre pin).
I am not certain of that particular power supply, but if all of your pedals are rated at 9V, some reasonable current and centre pin polarity the same , then yeah it should work.
