I know Muse's newest endeavours haven't been real popular around these part. I actually like it, but this isn't my reason for posting.

They've just released their new single, Madness. =

But is it just me hearing things, or is a lot of the melodies and chord progression the same as George Michael's Faith? =

Its not too bad, I just kept on waiting for it to 'kick off' but it never really did in the way I was expecting :'(

I thought this was quite common... Think of "Wild thing" by the Troggs and "Baby I don't care" ages later by Transvision vamp also had the same progression, I'm sure there are other examples...

This is true. I'm not suggesting some kind of plagiarism conspiracy. I think in Afrikaans music alone there is a million examples. But it is quite interesting hearing it so strikingly in a Muse song (the most creative band to have come out of the last 20 years IMO).

Not sure if I hear the similarity, but I like the song. Muse are responsible for one of the best live shows I have seen ?
