Where to find serial no. on Rickenbacker 4001 bass

Hi guys.
I've just received a RIC 4001 model bass in the workshop.
Did a bunch of research on them, and the 70's models come up as high in value on eBay.

I'm just curious to find more about it. Client bought it brand new in '74, and hasn't played it since the mid 80's.
I can't find a serial no. anywhere on the outside. I haven't started on it yet, so don't know if the serial would be inside ???

On the jackplate - stamped into the outside.

I had seen that, but the number was so short I wasn't sure if that was it ???
It's something like "531" (my memory not wekking) on one end, and 2 letters on the other ("OH" or similar).

You can look up the serial on the Ric webpage, those letters and figures work out to a certain month of production.

Right, the serial no.

OA 153

Manufactured in January, 1975.
So the client must be confused with his date of purchase ('74) ?
