(when they weren't wanting their lemon squeezed real hard).
Love that tune. IMO, Jimi's version was pretty good too (Killing Floor), and the original by Howling Wolf is damn funky for it's time. Interesting, the three versions could all be classified into differing genre's?
I get a bit cranky with all the sub-genre/new genre game. It seems that a new genre is as much throwaway as some pop ('popular') music that gets repeated 5-10/times a day on radio just to convince you that you like it (I reckon it's because your ears become familiarized to it and then it becomes easier to listen to, not because it's any good).
But perhaps the listener is equally in need of entertainment - I seldom sit and listen to a complete album anymore, I tend to playlist genre's. The other day I sat and re-listened to 'Carmen Fantasy' (Itzak Perlman on lead violin) and really enjoyed the album and performance - I should really get back into the habit of listening to albums as the artist intended the music to be presented.
