Worst gig moments.....

I am sure we all have some 'worst' gig moments. My gig was as a dep guitarist with a pro, touring coversband, and I got the job via personal recommendation. I had recently acquired a JayDee Strat copy equipped with a Floyd Rose floating trem with locking nut. I was excited to get out and gig with it...but midway into the first set, I broke a string. Normally that wouldn't be a problem with my old Strat or the Les Paul, but it took me 3 songs to fit a replacement on the beast. Allen keys, locking nut, reversed string with ball end at headstock and tuning the floating trem.....aaaarrrgh. I 'hardtailed' the instrument after that episode and always took a spare guitar.

......ok so maby not worst gig moments, but more like funny stuff that happened ?

1. while playing some intense guitar on a small stage, a girl came up and pretty much french kissed me :-[

2. new years eve in a small town, the designated driver passed out, there were only 4 people including staff, and the manager thought it would be funny to spray the fire extinguisher, all the gear had this white powder on it the next day we pitched up to collect.

3. i went to play for a church one sunday, Keyboard of all instruments, and while the pastor was praying, i accidentally hit a few of the keys, playing some diminished chord, i must say that was pretty embarrassing.

4. my amp died on the first chord i strummed, sound check it was fine.

5. started getting a nose bleed, as i got on stage at a casino.

6. "accidentally" touched the lighting desk mixer, screwing up everything at a high profile gig.

7. a bassist tripped over my pedal board during a solo, pulling out the cable.

One time the keyboard player rested the headphone amp box thing for the inears on the last few keys on the righthand side of the keyboard... it was JUST heavy enough to depress the keys...
resulting in a high pitched weeeeee that no one could figure out... lol...

One of the funniest that I can remember is the drummer in a band I played for, plonking his stool down on an electrical extension lead. Things were fine until he bent down after a couple of songs to grab the stool and pull it forwards!! WHAM! Eyes like dog's testes!!

Worst gig moment was actually recently!

We were playing on a springy cheap stage and all the gear was bouncing around a lot. My amp kept going from my lovely carefully set levels to "peel the paint off the walls", I couldn't figure out why. The lead guys amp kept turning off! Tube amps mind you.

The set was a mess.

Turns out my car key had bounced off the top of my amp onto the gain pot and was slowly nudging me louder and louder and louder!!!

The sound guy was working his bum off trying to compensate. Fun times!
