This is a tricky game. I think there's many songs where I thrill to the intro BUT it's in anticipation of things to come later in the song. So I'm trying to think of songs where I'm pretty sure that when I first heard them the intro caught my attention. I like Brian Many's solo on "We Will Rock You", so I think that when I used to hear that football terrace intro I was anticipating the real thrill.

Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" was definitely one. I'm pretty sure that Dire Straits "In The Gallery" was another - though that one cuts both ways because now when I hear those opening licks I know that there's a fab solo coming a couple of minutes later.

Oh... Nick Drake "Cello Song", one of the few moments where he actually shows off on guitar.

Also, The Stones' You can't always get what you want, with the choir is frikkin awesome.

Flower, by Soundgarden - where Kim blows across the strings. Rusty cage, with that wah in the heel-down position, is awesome too.
