Seeking guitar

I am tasked with teaching beginner guitar to a disadvantaged 11 year old youth.
He currently has the most pathetic piece of junk I've ever seen.
A cheap fake crappy nylon string guitar that has been fitted with steel strings and left to warp in the sun. The action is an inch high and is so out there is no way this could ever serve a purpose.
This can only be disheartening and there is no way this lad could ever make progress with it.

If there is anyone with a cheap nylon string guitar to donate I will personally fetch and deliver and exchange phone numbers so you can be absolutely certain he receives it. I will gladly fit new strings as well and polish it up for the lad.

Please help if you can.

Progress. A Johnson was donated but it's a lefty. Too much hassle to change it.
I was thinking it's just a new finger nut, but the angle of the saddle in the bridge as well as the scratch plate make it a schlepp,
so it's for sale on gumtree and I'll find a good nylon string guitar or similar.
I will insist on swopping the new guitar for the old one and will take a pic to post here on GFSA.

Great job man. I'll be happy to chip in R100 towards a new guitar if your straight swop doesn't work out. I'm sure we can drum up some more pledges here on GFSA. PM me your banking details - as long as you promise to use the money towards a guitar for this guy ?

Thanx Y'all. The ad is still running on gumtree. Perhaps I might see ow much cash crusaders will offer me for it.
I don't need to get more than R500 for it as I can find a useable nylon string on gumtree that will do the job.
Will let you know what progress I make, and might even take you up on the offer to pay for a set of strings etc.

Slowly, slowly catchy monkey. The lefty has been sold, albeit for considerably less than I was hoping to get for it.
It will go to a left handed girl in Ceres. I dropped it off in Durbanville yesterday and it wall make it's way to Ceres this weekend.
I asked for pics to be sent to my e-mail address and will post a pretty smile soon.

Meanwhile I have my sights set on a Cort dreadnought and will fit fresh strings myself and deliver it with my next lesson.
Juan's dad has indicated that they can only afford the next lesson after the end of this month.
I will post pictures of the lad with his new guitar then.

The next stage is done. Thanks to all the donations I received it is not costing me anything but my time.
The task of fitting fresh strings, polishing and tuning is a labour of love which I absolutely enjoy.
The smile on the lads face will be reward enough, and any progress he makes will be an added bonus.
This is what he'll be getting...

I was assured I'd get a photograph of the young lady who got the left hand guitar, but so far it's not forthcoming,
I doubt I'll be able to wait until after the end of the month to deliver... chances are I'll take it to him this Sunday. ?

I thank you for the offer, but the tally has now been met, and any more money I take will go straight into my beer account.
There is a brand new set of Ernie Balls on the guitar which he'll not get through for a while.

I need to get this guitar delivered a.s.a.p. and will update this thread with pics.
