Up until a few weeks ago, I didn't know that sampling of guitars was possible (or at least I didn't think it was possible for it to sound good).
I stumbled upon a product called Shreddage X. It is a DI guitar sample library.. you can read more on the website.

I bought the Linux Sample Player version (SFV) for $49. So far I am completely amazed. I fiddled around over the course of the week and came up with a track you can access via the link below.
I am still learning how to use this software to its full potential, but I think I achieved some semi-decent results. There aren'y any squeals in this test, but you will get the general feel of it.
So... is the human guitar player going to become a thing of the past on recorded albums in future?? ?

I know this is a metal track and it is very clinical sounding.. but I was testing it out for the purposes of pure metal blasting! I ran the DI guitars into Le456 and x50 guitar amp sims (both free) using GuitarHacks impulses. Steven Slate 4 Platinum for the drums.
