Strat pickup advice

Hi all. Yeah I know this question has been posed before, but I'm looking for advice pertaining to my personal direction.... I have a MiM Strat, 95/96 model, which is my main guitar. I have been so impressed with the stock sound, feel, and playability of this beautiful instrument thus far, that the only changes I have made have been cosmetic. I loooove this axe ? My playing has moved into new directions wrt style, clean sound with big sustain, and more emphasis on passion in single notes rather than speed. While the stock pups have totally satisfied me up to now, I do feel that a pickup upgrade will allow me to better express myself. I do play through a Zoom G2 (okay all you purists, put down those rocks you're about to throw ???) - because I am partially paralysed, I am unable to to do the foot-stomping pedal thing anymore, and the simplicity of the zoom (which I have modded for use by hand) allows me to run either straight into the PA, or through my Peavey Bandit 65. Considerations: 1. Looking for bigger clean sound 2. Natural sustain (from the pickup, rather than via the zoom) 3. Stronger response from high notes 4. I use the neck pup a LOT for solos, as I love a slightly deeper sound, but with strong attack 5. Think Gilmour, Latimer, etc.; my playing has been likened to Robben Ford (holy cow!) as well (by Greg G). Not that I try to play like them, (wish I could), but probably a lot of influence from there 8) I have liked the reviews on the Tonerider Pure Vintage range, but if there is something better suited but a "little" more expensive, it will be seriously considered. Please advise as per personal experience, if possible :-[ Let's hear views, experience, and price ranges, please. Thanks already . . . . . ? slyd

I agree with the idea of a compressor pedal.
Pickup wise for me there is only 1 set for a strat TEXAS SPECIALS. To me everything else just sounds muddy in comparison.

Post 2500 ?

While we are on the subject...
The Fender Custom Shop 54 Pickup set..
What sets this apart from the real 54/57 pickups as used in Buddy Holly's Tribute Strat?
Or does this require my own topic?

** Nevermind** found my answer eventually! they are indeed the same pickups used in the tribute strat!
And on some sound clips i heard, they're what i would upgrade to...
OR put in a custom build! ?
