KISS Alive was the record that made me turn a tennis raquet into an air guitar. Absolutely sensational. The impression that those first couple of albums made on me as a teenager meant that I'm permanently biased and stuck with them through some of the admittedly shaky later-period albums.

On that I agree with you 1 000%. There Gene's rampant, rabid capitalism just went way overboard. Should have stuck to what they originally did with Vinnie Vincent as the Ankh and Eric Carr as the Hawk. Ace had to "sell" the character back for bucks when he was desperate - simply despicable.
