They are innovators in their own right. Its not often you hear a band mesh rap, with melodic piano and heavy guitar riffs, with electronic drums . . . I think Steven said it quite right:

You guys should actually Youtube Mike Shinoda, the man is an absolute genius. By far one of the best rock producers of date. I am pretty much going to see him. But you can't deny the band is not good. They are very melodic, and their stuff is easy to remember. I think many more bands should be like them (not necessarily musically)
Must say I must agree with this. Sure as musicians we might not like them because they are not "musically technical" enough or whatever. But they're old stuff was innovative and unique imo. Not so fond of the new material.
