Rate Ashton guitars

Sup folks,
I'm considering buying a 2nd hand Ashton guitar pack(6 string electric with 30w amp) for R900.
My friend knows a bit about guitars and will come with me to check out the quality etc.(I'm a guitar noob)
How good are Ashton guitars? I cant get prices anywhere online..
Does the sound remain good etc?
I asked the seller what model..she said 'i dunno its the standard Ashton starter pack'.
All the info i got.
My friend says i should look for a cort which are known to provide good beginner guitars but are expensive.

Any advice welcome ?

ok i won't lie,if you gonna pay R900 for a guitar and a amp you gonna get SHIT!!!!

i'd rather pay more and get a cort(even though i hate 'em) or a Squire and then a small 15watt amp....you gonna pay atleast double the price but atleast you gear will last you a while....

personally i HATE starter packs,only decent one i've seen is the epiphone one but IMO rather buy a guitar and amp separately

australian made guitars , played a few in my life ... not bad , specially a first guitar and at the price of 900 bucks it would be IMO a good buy . just make sure the neck is in good nick .

the cort starter packs are also brilliant , but i am biased towards corts . they not overly expensive about 2500 bucks , and you get alot of guitar for it with a amp and strap and what not .

Have you played the guitar yet?
Are you happy with the feel and tone?

Buying a guitar is about personal preference ..if something doesnt ring true to you in this deal then stay away!

Rather save up and get some thing reputable from a reputable stockist.

Maybe sit down in a music shop and jam all the cheap models from renowned manufactrers, and find one that feels good for you.. there is no point in buying a guitar for a great price, but later you discover it is hard to play and even harder to maintain..

maybe save some more cash up, get a small 15w amp second hand (marshal or of the likes) and start off with a good low end model from washburn or ibanez..

Some i've heard about are Rons guitars or something(by the Darrenwood toyota), and Andy McGibbons.

the one in darren wood is ronnies all band and strumit , good second hand guitars , about music main road melville , music mate in cresta (bottom floor opposite clicks) , music connection on jan smuts (just up from andys)

Music Connection has a great range and selection.

I agree, spend a few bucks more and really enjoy it rather than hating it cause you got a bum guitar. It is tricky trying to gauge what is a good guitar and what is not when you first start out, but you should be able to tell by the finish if the time and money has been spent in the manufacture.
