Cape Town Jams

iLLy

Hey guys

Sorry if this is the wrong section or a thread like this exists, but I'm looking for weekly/regular jam nights here in Cape Town.

Stylistically, Blues/Rock/Soul/Jazz/RnB are all fine

Looking to flex the musical muscles, and make some contacts

Any one got some protips for me?

PS
Not that is matters, but it seems like I've logged on to the wrong account T_T

I'm in your neighbourhood and always keen to have a jam. 8)

Hiya gents,

Also in the neighbourhood and wouldn't mind a jam every now and again.

I've got a jamspot for the next few weeks, so would be cool to make use of it. Would need to bring yer amps, but there is a amp'ed up electric drumkit avail (I'll play, but do not expect metronomic timing ?)

DaFiz

A Saturday afternoon is a good time. Right now I'm jamming along with iTunes. :-[

nick

I'd love to join on this, date/time? 8)

I'm happy to host a jam, can make some noise pretty much anytime (the electric kit helps). Usually sunday is music day, tuesday evenings are also good. Tomorrow is a possibility, although I did promise myself some time to 'work' on this months challenge.

Any thoughts?

i go to rabbit hole(durbanville) on thursdays where they have open mic nights, and play with random people, its fun.

sunday nights at ellingtons(bellville) they got improv jams as well

Hey could you elaborate a bit on this? Sounds like what I'm looking for

As for the Table View jam, I know of 1 or 2 other people that might be interested - but we all play for churches on Sundays. Would be keen to try something on another night?

DaFiz

I have a blues band that practices on Monday night. Will be willing to jam any other night. 8)

well i normally go to rabbit hole one, it was very busy on thursday and i ended playing with 2 very good vocalists on stage, but normally it is very chilled out.
aldough i am a guitarist, i go and place bass for random people cause they are always looking for brave bassists.
and i turned out to be the thursday night bassist for some blues band by mistake.

i think it would be best if you pop in one thursday

thats the new durbanville kunskafee, you remember the place where we had the very FIRST ever GFSA meeting ? ?
no wont be going to ellingtons tonight, but i see they got an event tonight for a jam tonight

DaFiz

I'm still available and keen to join you for a jam. Your place or mine (Table View).
Not keen to drive out of the area for a jam.

Come and join me at my place tonight, or next Tuesday. 8)

Why dont we as GFSA invade either Ellingtons or the Rabbit Hole? Pick a day and we show up, chat and have a drink. If you are keen to make some noise jump on stage and do it ?

Heath

sounds like an awesome plan

I vote Ellingtons .
