HELP QUICK! Credit card/Paypal budget facility?

Hi guys.

I'm about to order my guitar from Thomann.de.
I have just received my credit card so I can set up a Paypal account to pay for my order.
I assumed because the Paypal account is really an intermediary for your credit card, that you can make a purchase using your credit cards' budget facility.
I can't however find any info regarding this anywhere.

Is it possible to do this? Or do I have to not use paypal, and just make the payment directly with my credit card? If so, what service costs are applicable such as currency conversion fees and such?

It would kill me if I had do wait another 2 or 3 months to save cash instead of budgeting the payment now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you just received your card, just remember it has to be "verified" by paypal. that means they bill your account with a small amount, which is later refunded. Next to this transaction there will be a code you need to use on their site to verify your account.

After that you are good to go. Paypal is just an account linked to your credit card, so I see no issues with using your budget facility. Obviously just make sure the total transaction does not exceed your daily transaction limit, in which case you will have to adjust the limit before doing the transaction.

Please keep us up to date on the order, Nick and myself are considering ordering from them as well.

Yip, what Reinhard says sounds about right.

When I pay with paypal, the amount is automatically taken from my account, so what ever funds are available in my account should be available to paypal.

I understand it a bit differently. A PayPal account is an entirely seperate account. If you wish to use it pay for something, you need to either put some funds into this account or have it automatically deduct the amout from a nominated Bank account. As far as I know, this is either a Current or a Credit account. I am not sure if it is possible to use a budget facility. As far as costs, they charge a currency conversion fee and also charge a fee when debiting your PayPal account (as in when someone pays me with PayPal and I transfer the funds to my account). I am not sure if they charge a fee when depositing funds into your PayPal acount but would not be surprised if they do.

It's been a while since I used paypal, but I just logged in and had a butcher's. You can link a credit card to your profile and pay from that.

That's how I've done it before, and it worked just fine.

Nice thing about paypal is that it's ONE interface through which you can pay any merchant that accepts pay pal. No need to set up more EFT details on your bank account or credit card, and because the credit card is linked to your profile you don't have to keep on punching in those details either.

NB! Depending on your card and the bank that issued it to you, there may be additional security measures in place that are nothing to do with paypal, that paypal doesn't know about and can't control.

Well I've set up my Paypal account and made the purchase, so lets see what happens.

FYI Absa users: Straight and Budgeted purchases are now consolidated into on account sharing the same credit limit.
You do not need to specify whether you are making a budget or straight purchase upfront, you proceed as if it were a straight purchase, then you can call Absa afterwards and specify which amount you want split over whichever terms you want.

I'm sure your Paypal account doesn't need a balance in it if it's connected to your credit card, that doesn't make sense. I'll let you guys know if it is indeed the case if my payment get's rejected.

Ordered My Kramer SM-1 and filled up the case with smalls like strings, picks, vox amplug, tremol-no and other accessories. Can't wait =D

I have never put a balance on PayPal. Even refunds were transferred directly into my bank account.
