Eish, Some kind of monster got painful, those guys had massive opinions about themselves. Not a Metalica fan at all, so I did not expect much and lost what little respect I could have had for them as people. And showing Dave Mustaine crying like that was pretty lame.
I generally enjoy the added bonus parts of live dvds as much as the show. The on tour behind the scenes stuff of bands ludicrous drunken antics, my favourite being = the dvd has crudloads of live bootleg live videos.

There was also that one that recently won a couple of Oscars (I think) about that country singer... cant think of the name, Jeff Bridges was the main actor, oh, Crazy Heart - enjoyed that more than I thought I would.
Downloaded the Kings of Leon documentary but have yet to watch it. And the Glastonbury doc a few years ago was pretty good.

The Song Remains the Same - Led Zeppelin
The Last Waltz - The Band and a bunch of guests. For me this one is a curate's egg, but that means that parts of it are excellent.
Martin Scorcese's Dylan documentary is pretty good, and includes some great archival footage.
At home I have a doccie on DVD about the "Voelvry" tour in SA in the 80s. It came inside a book about the tour. Some great interviews - recent and "at the time".
IMO the best documentary about Hendrix is the one simply titled "Jimi Hendrix".

It's not exactly Rock 'n Roll, but I enjoyed "Immortal Beloved", the Beethoven biopic. Some of the biographical content is questionable or disputed (which, I think, is generally a problem with this sort of movie, be the subject Jim Morrison or Ludwig van Beethoven), but the film does make a very good introduction to Beethoven's music (which is well worth exploring).

Cadillac Records - all about Chess Records. I enjoyed it, maybe not 100 percent accurate, but a good watch.

Watched that Joan Jett one earlier in the year on DSTV which was also pretty good. And although not really about muscians but more about music and music stores, Empire Records and High Fidelity are classics

These all have a slight documentary feel - which I think helps enjoy the music/performances in context.
