18v pedal problems

Hi!!! ?

I haven't posted for a while due to a new job that has been keeping me busy but I have a question.

I want to power my MXR 117RE flanger (18v) without using the wall wart.
My power supply is a generic 10 input dc power supply with 100mA on each input (claimed).

Could I just get a y cable that plugs into 2 inputs to power this pedal or is there something I am not thinking about?

As far as I know, that should do the trick. I've run 18V like that before by y-leading 2 outputs on a daisy chain without any issue... Granted, I was using a 2000mah PSU... Maybe wait for an 'expert' to chip in before going ahead? ?

I was looking at these, but they won't work for my PSU. They might for yours if the outputs are isolated (if I understood Alan Ratcliffe's advice correctly ?)

Surely there's a danger here of shorting the negative side of one output to the positive side of the other?

What you would be doing is just increasing the current, just like putting batteries in parallel..... The voltage will not increase.

Build a voltage pump with a icl7660 (i think thats the part) or a max1044. Few diodes, caps and resistors and box it.....

That sounds good ? Do you happen to have any schematics for something like that?

Correct. You can daisy chain (put them in series) if the power supplies are isolated, but there's pretty much no way thats the case here - although some psu's do have fully isolated outputs. I reckon all outputs here will share the same ground and therefore you will just short the power to ground like you say.

That ICL7660 is a nice solution.

It looks great but I dont see the need for a PNP if you're just gonna use your pedal psu, and the IC wiring looks strange. Just look on page 9 of the datasheet here http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/ICL7660-MAX1044.pdf
