Looking for band rehearsal spot, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town

Switch-Munky7

Hi GuitarForum!

My band Arc Reactor is currently looking for a rehearsal space twice a week in the southern suburbs of Cape Town.

We have tried rehearsal studios such as Salty Dogs and Kill City Blues but they only have late time slots (after 9pm.)

Do any of you know of bands that are willing to share a practice space or know of any other facilities that offer a rehearsal space?

Thank you all in advance. :goodtimes:

I'm totally in the same boat... ?

Practicing in that little music shop in Observatory, but its way too tiny. I might convert my garage but its going to take a while.
I've struggled to find anything in S.Suburbs, closest is Muizenberg and Obz.
Let me know if you find anything or if you need to join forces. Maybe a venue, bar?

Consulting my contacts...

A good place to start looking imo. is in the industrial areas. Even for office space in an Ind. area... Usually quite reasonable rent and usually available after 6 weekdays, after 1 on Saturdays and all day Sundays -without noise restrictions.... My 5 cents worth...

Best of luck!

Thanks Zark, we have looked at Industrial areas but nothing seems to be within our price range or we have had no luck with the owners.
Hey Julian, I know what you mean, we used to practice in a wendy house in my back yard but had to stop practicing when it was broken into and our PA got stolen. We also had a few noise complaints against us even though we had permission from our neighbours in the immediate area surrounding our house.
I must admit that it is getting increasingly difficult to find a decent practice spot in Cape Town.

You probably know this. But Kill City opens from 12 to 12. So the slots between 6 - 9 are ALWAYS taken. But the slots before are nearly always open.

There's also Salty Dogs studios in Woodstock. Its where we go.

We have tried Salty Dogs as well as Kill City, problem is our band members all work and most of us finish work around 5:30 so we can't get the earlier slots.
We would prefer to get one of the 6 to 9 slots as we don't want to practice too late either as we all have early starts the next day.
