Tele on the build

so the first lot of my parts arrived today

I am waiting on my order from terryd for the control plates and knobs , jack covers and so fourth . i have a set of 500k CTS pots i salvaged from my last build . tuners i will get from paull bothner , during the week. just mulling over the pickups still . i will try and document this as much as possible .

Where'd you order the body and neck from?

David. The Guy advertising the body and necks on gumtree. The necks are quiet nice. Body's are good aswell but the neck cavity leaves alot to be desired ..... but now it wouldn't. Be fun if it was easy

Quick update !!!!

the neck finally fits in the cavity .

check the fit with the pick guard , gonna have to be modified me thinks

Jack and jackplate all screwed down

Control Plate all lined up

The Neck finally becomes one with the body

Tuners all installed , still need to install the roller string trees , but will do that once she is strung up

The bridge and pick guard are bolted down

Pickups have been ordered from tonerider , needs to be varnished and still havent got around to getting the strap locks either , hopefully will wonder off to the pauls tommorow if i get a chance cos now i need strings .

so strip down this weekend and gonna use a tinted varnish to finish off the body

but what was wrong with the neck pocket? i dont quite understand??

the width of the neck was about 2mm wider then the pocket , so had to widen the pocket a bit

The pickups have become a problem , Andre from tonerider seems to be out the country again , and isn't responding to emails , and most of the music shops i have phoned don't have pickups .

but i have the rest of the stuff now so the varnishing will start on the weekend , Strings were put on last night and the trees installed and luckily everything lines up beautifully and the strap locks aswell , will post some picks of that tonight .

so all in all we near the finish line , (btw any one have a set of tele pickups or a spare neck pickup lying around going cheap ???)

Finally got around to finishing this

the front after the first 3 coats of paint

the neck after it's 2nd coat of clear ( i had to repair a little bit of a mess up on the masking and the hardware was already installed)

The final result before the pickups and the electrics was done

will post some pics tommorow of the final her all strung up and wired up , didn't have time yesterday was having far to much fun playing with her .

Was going for a dark oak finish origanally and it didn't come out like i wanted , so went all black and the end result was very cool . Sounds very good only thing i need now for it is strap locks and new pickups but that will coming in time

Well I bought myself the strat kit from Dean at Blackbeards and I can honestly vouch for the quality. Pickups are either Wilkinson or Sonar. Don't know all that much about Sonar but Wilkinson are allright. I think I'll be upgrading them to Seymour Duncans or Tonerider though. Wood is awesome, fretwork was very very good. No complaints here except for figuring out how I'm gonna put a name on her. :-\
