I have not heard one note sang by either of them? I just see references to him in humorous ways - he seems to be a source of great ridicule and as for her - well she seems hell bent on looking as alien and unhuman as possible. She is so bizarre. I suppose the Beatles and the Stones seemed the same to the older generation - in fact worse. They must have had such an impact. Its not as simple to follow trends now as back then - there is such a splintering in musical tastes. Kind of sad in a way altho I'm sure there are giants around today as here were then. Its just ... there's so many where do you begin ... Its kind of polarised my listening - just keep going back rather - My new rockstars are writers anyhow ... ?

I don't see the same rivalry now. Back in the early 60s the Stones/Beatles divide was quite deep. It was sort of a case of the Beatles wanted to hold your hand, whereas the Stones wanted a bit more and they wanted to start a riot first. Plus they were effectively competing for the same market (neither group sought that situation, but it was there) so you almost had to nail your colours to one mast or the other. For a while. Until the Beatles music got more serious, less simplistic and the Stones made a record that seemed like an attempt to be the Beatles.

Speaking of the beatles... How many of their songs can you find here..?

What can it be ? Also the van with the hat smoking stars ? and some others as well ??

No prizes for guessing whose colours vic has nailed to the flag-post. ?

There are of course some reprobates like Jack Flash Jnr. who denegrate the Beatles. But those whose brains are not totally melted by a youth spent sniffing industrial solvents know that both bands were fantastically special.

Especially when the Stones realised that trying to copy the Beatles was a huge mistake and put out Beggar's Banquet and a string of albums after that still sound fresh as a spring daisy today.

The one with the van smoking stars and the tophat - Magical Mystery Tour? And the triangle with Pam at the bottom - wasn't there a Polythene Pam (mean Mr Mustard) etc. That female gene sign with the crown - Her majesty's a pretty nice girl? You have to understand Singe - with the Beatles - the kids I knew were all harmonising at the age of 10! If someone sings , you automatically harmonise ... My brother and his band caused quite a stir wearing Rolling Stone Tshirts - broad stripes in navy I think, with the tousled hair. So rebellious! Just saw another Sun King - forgot that one - can't remember which album
