Laney LX65R vs Fender FM65R

both are solid state 2 channel foot switchable amplifiers, both are 65w, both have single 12".

I own the Fender amp, interested in the Laney, the fender just doesnt do it for me overdrive wise for some reason..

opinions? havent played that model laney, might go round to the guy this evening.

Hey, I don't know if this will be of any help, because I only had the Laney Hardcore Max HCM10 (when I started) and it sucked, basically. But I've got a friend with the same kind of amp as what you want to get (not sure about the model), and it wasn't too bad. I still prefer my 15 W Roland Cube 15, though. I know absolutely NOTHING about the Fender.

Neither IMO. Especially if you're looking for good overdrive tones.

If you have the budget check out these Hybrid Valve/ Solid State amps from Marshall and VOX:

-The VOX AD50VT(R4695 - http://www.muz.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3084).

You can't go wrong with either (I'm sure a bunch of guys here will vouch for this) and I guarantee you will be more than happy with the cleans and the Overdrive tones both of these amps are capable of - far more so than the Solid State Fender and Laney (although if you can get hold of the Laney TFX2 65W Hybrid, those are also quite decent). I'm sure you can get either amp for a whole lot cheaper - just shop around.
