Jaco Pastorius covering Third Rock from the Sun (02:05 - 02:34), alas this is the best version I found online - but still quite cool to see him jump on the bass at the end ?

Great, melodic bass lines abound in The Cure's music, but my faves are:

- Just Like Heaven
- Lullabye
- Lovesong

Some other (pretty mainstream) ones I can think of from elsewhere:

- Sade, Ordinary Love
- Queen, Another One Bites the Dust
- Tears for Fears, Woman in Chains

Listening to pretty much any House tracks will also reveal plenty of catchy bass melodies.

And for good measure, probably Danny Thompson's best known piece of playing

(there's pictures of Nick Drake in that clip because John Martyn wrote this song for and about Drake).

Cool song, one that I've been wanting to do as a solo acoustic number for some time now. The trick is trying to get that bass line to really come out right on one guitar ? (not there yet)
