https://www.box.com/s/3cf9ffa3a7303d6ebc85 Category A please (the track is titled that way too). I've called this one "Glimpse" as it's basically a peek into what I'm busy with stylewise. It's not anything new but it's definitely something borrowed with a touch of blue. I'm not sure about the mix but the general idea is there... waiting for some monitors before I can really have a nice mix. And my apologies ahead of time... you'll understand later. Hope you enjoy it :)

Here is my entry to this months challenge. https://www.box.com/s/6cc478cfe7ecdb28bbf9 4 tracks, single runs. I would have loved to have gone over my guitar track to iron out one or two glitches but sorry, no time. Me on the Epi, drop c'd for the first time, thru the Boss HM2 and Vox Wah into the Jcm 900. Amp was miced. There is a Piano Accordion behind the second section courtesy of my great friend Kris Mocke. Kris also played the drums on his Roland electric set. There is some bass in there somewhere too. The levels are quite high so you may have to tone back on the vol a bit especially during the lone guitar. I wrote the track, I call it - Celtic Folk Metal - call it what you want.

Here's my entry in the intermediate category : https://www.box.com/s/9e9c15bd5058841bfceb Due to my strat being worked on (tremel-no install), I'm re-entering my April comp entry (voting was cancelled) - hope this is ok! Did a lit' bit of work on the track - it's still only 38s - but spent sometime cleaning up the guitar leads & mastering of the track. Four tracks (drums, bass, rhythm/lead guit1, lead guit2) recorded using Guitar Rig + Reaper + Izotope for mastering (think I got a lit' too happy with boosts > 4K). Enjoy!

https://www.box.com/s/1754ba768628acb4fe6d Beginner/intermediate please. Wish I had more time, but it's my own fault for procrastinating. :-[ Used my Fender Std Tele through my Fender G-dec3's tweed amp model.
I wish I had 4 votes because all these entries Rock
Noob question: how do we vote?

Nevermind... I see it's on the top of the page.
Wow guys (and gal)! You've gone and raise the bar once again. Excellent work. :applause: To me there is no obvious winner. Each of the entries have some very good qualities and each one of them rocks my socks.

I was very disappointed that I couldn't find the time this month to record an entry but, listening to these, I realise there wouldn't have been much point, other than providing a clear loser for this month's challenge ?
My internet at home was seriously slow last night, so I haven't been able to download the other entries yet. >☹ Will try again tonight and get my votes in then.
Feel free to crit hey, any feedback is good even when it's bad :-[

@ Chris - I was expecting Mick to start singing after a couple of seconds ? Definately got a great Rock groove going. Although you didn't really go past the opening riff, the tones you got on the guitars sound awesome, What FX and guitars were you using? Well done dude!
Files downloaded. Votes coming soon?

Ja, I did the rythm part a while ago....... then left the rest until the last minute and ended up just jamming a solo track over the rythm part Monday night :-[ A bit more planning on the cards for the next time ?
Guitar is my Std tele, with the Harmonic Design P90 tele pups fitted. Amp is my Fender G-dec3. Selected the Tweed Drive model, added some chorus and delay and a touch of reverb and turned the guitars volume and tone up full.
Nice entries guys ?

V8 - loved the funk bro. Had the vibe of "The Jeffersons" and "Sanford and Son". Got my head bopping... was hoping/wanting more!
Must admit I thought there would be a few more entries for a broad category like rock...? As it is, the playing across all the entries is damn fine.

@Chris77 : You can never have enough cowbell ?...but it could have been neat to have a verse/chorus variation + fills to the drums?
@Hammeron : 0:55s - I damn near broke the monitor when the drums came in, headbangin'!
@Evo : This track rocks. Everything works together, it's grooving and the lead tone & playing (sounds like you are playing with a slide?) is really, really to my taste!

My brother has a listen to my entry and he had one thing to say : "It sounds like a jingle" - lol - He was 100%, it was originally written as a alternate intro to a TV program :?.

Many Thanks Evo! Thought your entry was seriously grooving (the interaction between instruments worked for me). The buildup and release 1:22 - 1:36 then into the singing solo - yeah bro, wish I had played this ?

Thanks bud... appreciate it ? Yeah, was playing with a slide. Unfortunately my big fatsy glass slide broke so I was left with a lightweight metal one... couldn't get the vibrato right on it ☹ But it worked in the end. The glass slide would have probably made the tone nicer but then again, I don't know enough about science when it comes to that shite. But the weight of the glass one is preferred to that dingy little metal rusting thing. Take it off my finger and its just red dust. Awesome.

Also experimented with adding basslines this time. Simple 8th note groove but it did the trick with the verse riff. There's a 16th note run somewhere... can't really hear it as it blends into the mix.

That was a nice jingle then dude! Very happy groove going on in there.... I dig it. What programme was it for?
5 days later
Congrats Evo! Hope you've put some thought into the next challenge (Jedi Mind trick - make it something acoustic :?)

My lit' piece was for Toms (kids science program on SABC3), but was never used. Note to self : Next time I wanna output a housey track - start with the drums and not the bass line That being said, inspired, I went and dug out a few slides (the glass one is also broken and the metal is rusty too) and after a few minutes put them right back in the box again ?
Well done Evo, a well deserved win. But congrats to all three the other participants as well. These were four particularly well executed submissions.
Thanks guys ? Appreciate it. Yeah, the challenge is in - something for everyone, I think.

Congrats to the other entries as well ?
Well done all evolution, Hammeron, V8 and chris77 - evo got the most votes so he has chosen the next challenge which has been duly posted on the competition board.
Thanks for the votes folks ?
@Evo, well deserved man. I wish I could play like that, I really do. ? You've got some seriously pro-level chops hey. 8)
@ Hammeron - GFSA's First Lady of Rock delivers the goods as ussual. And your still at school right? Unfreakinbelievable... ? Great entry. One of these days you're going to win one of these things for sure.
@V8 - I liked your entry far better than mine to be honest. Nice intro, structure, playing and catchy as hell hey :yup: A really well planned, well played and well composed entry. Do you write a lot of full songs? If you don't, you should. Will be great to hear them.
