How many of you guys feel like this? - You're frustrated coz you have so much work to do and when you're not working, you're keeping things tied together at home - grocery shopping, watering the lawn, whatever. And, specifically, you're frustrated because you REALLY want to go to lessons and improve your playing, you really want to start recording yourself on your BR-600 (or PC or whatever ?) and improve your phrasing and composing skills but you just don't see how. Maybe you get to play for an hour or two once every two weeks and you REALLY enjoy it but there's just no space to do it more often?
I'm really wondering how you guys cope with that frustration. I keep telling myself I need to make the time but between 7am and 10pm, 6 days a week, it's work, work, work. I have to sleep or I'll burn out, so what do you do?
Personally I keep telling myself that my hard work will pay off when all of my projects are running on autopilot (aiming for about 2-3 years from now) and making me passive income and that works and it keeps me going but, man, 2-3 years is a long way away when all you wanna do is be awesome NOW ?
(I'm not even talking about making a career out of music. Just making music for your own enjoyment and, sure, for the entertainment of your friends and family. :-[)
OK but I do think (for someone with your working hours) you are keeping a nice balance Norio because even this site is a success story in the industry of the art you love. Also, you seem to plan ahead and I have no doubt you are improving.
I do think it will be better to scale down on your work hours (if at all possible) though.
