Renesongs

From Dylan -
For this week, i think i would like the keyword to be COUNTRY... with all the metal heads and blues guys on the forum, i wonder what we could come up with in the country genre. Anything from slow country ballad to fast picking 'slapping your knee' type of songs. What ever captures the essence of country music best

Closing time will be 11:59pm Thursday 20/11/2008

Ouch!!

This is a tough one. I will try it and see how far I can go down the country road.

What is the difference between country and folk music?

Squonk

yeehow

Heath

you can rip off my nails one for one

pull my hair out one for one

electrocute me until i wet myself

but country is just plain pushing your luck .

Renesongs

@ Tailon - How about we strap a guitar to you and lock you in a barn full of red necks named Daryl. ?

Heath

i would proabably hang myself from the rafterz with one of my own strings

FatBoy

Ooooooh!! Whats the rules for this thingy again? Are we allowed to sing? Is there a time limit?

Country is a subset of folk. The lyrics of country songs have to use at least one of the following words or phrases: "honky tonk","divorce","cheating","dog done left me","broken heart","don't smoke marijuana".

@bob- Hahahahahahah

@ Fritz - Closing time will be 11:59pm Thursday 20/11/2008, and yes you can sing. The only rules is that it must be you playing and that it has to contain at least 1 guitar.

country is a super fun genre to play on guitar. and i really didnt mean that to come out sarcastic..

CDee

Nice choice, does "Boeremusiek" count as South-African country music? ?

Spyke

Ooh... I like.

I have a secret affinity for country - and have been craving some good lap steel action. (wonder if I can replicate it?)

Squonk

I am battling to find a "country" bone in my body. I wish I could do the Chicken Picking thing.

Been trying all evening to come up with something country, always seems to end up sounding like a nursery rhyme.
Trying to work out the whole recording malarkey, not too easy. Managed to record a single track, but it's not country.
Playing through my zoom pedal into usb port and trying out Audacity and Guitar Rig 3 (just the software edition).
Will get there some day....

I've been playing around all night, recording what I think is the greatest country song I've ever done!!!

But then, this will be the first country song I've ever sone, so it was not a very difficut target to beat ?
