giggsy Something odd is happening with one of my guitars - if the cable is plugged in properly, theres nothing, no sound... but if I unplug it and push the cable halfway in, all works perfectly. Any idea what's going on?
giggsy ez wrote Are you not perhaps trying to use a stereo cable there? Nope, does the same thing with all my cables and those cables work fine on my other guitars
AlanRatcliffe What guitar is it? If it's a Strat, take the recessed ferrule out the body and try it - sometimes the rout is a little bit short and the jack shorts on the cavity screening. Can usually be "fixed" by rotating the socket so the tip contacts are towards the bottom of the cavity. On any guitar, it can be that the screen of the cable has been cut back too far and the socket has twisted so that the screen is right where the tip of the cable goes. Otherwise it's just an old/worn out socket. Replace with a Switchcraft and forget about it for the next 10 years.
