Power supplies: Left or right?

That's the first thought I had. If you want to get fancy, why not do something like what you see on the underside of a telephone where the cable can be routed whichever way you want? So, if looking at the pedal board from below, you'd see something like this:

What sort of a question is that? Of course I'm not OCD. ?

Left seems to be the unofficial standard these days. I know I get cheesed off when I bolt together a rack and one unit with power coming in on the right screws up a perfect power layout. ?

Deefstes, that is a cool idea. Slight overkill but a good excuse to play with a router ?

At the moment I'm torn between putting it in the the middle just 'cause I can and the left 'cause it's the standard...

Why dont you just put a plug on both the left and right? Wire them in parallel - maybe put a switch in if you're worried about the safety.

That's not a bad idea either. Probably unnecessarily complex though. I reckon the left must be the standard for some reason other than convention. Thinking about it now, it makes sense (to me anyway) to have it on the left; the pedals' outputs are on on the left, cable running to amp is therefore on the left. Probably neater to have the power cable running on the same side.

If you wanted to do this you will absolutely HAVE to add a switch of sorts lest you'll have a male kettle cable plug with 220V on it, open to be touched by anyone who's not paying attention.

I put mine on the left because of the placement of my amp's power input. I use one of those computer chords that goes to two outputs. So with my amp behind me and pedal board in front, they make the shortest path from the amp to the board. Maybe that helps? I don't know if I explained myself properly...

Yip. Makes sense. I'm gonna use two separate cables so that I can have them further apart if need be but I reckon I'll stick it on the left.
