Gotta admit, this thread got me thinking (not neccesarily a good thing... ???) - I really enjoyed Squonk's story and all of the guitars displayed are quite amazing - I admit to drooled over a few : Alan's Carvin, The rat-o-casters and kapepper's gibby L48.
I enjoy playing all my -ahem- ladies, the strat is pleasure, the bass feels great and the drum kit never fails to bring a smile to my dial, but the majority of the time I pick up a Nylon string...(Perhaps it's the flamenco lessons)
Of the six or so Nylons that are lying around, this one (Yamaha CG-170SA, ex-Kiera) strung up with high tension strings is usually in my hands. Add in to the equation that it's got a LR Baggs iBeam pickup on board and I also got Kiera's Gigpro preamp (with all her settings marked - Thanks Kiera!) and I'm in plug 'n play heaven ?
I've little doubt I'll go through a few more Nylon's before I settle down (grin) - but for the moment this one has a somewhat compressed sound that none of the other Nylon's have (spruce or cedar tops) and with the high tension strings I'm finding the flamenco techniques a lot more accessible
