This is Angie. She's a 2007 Standard (according to Gibson) in my books shes a Les Paul Exceptional ?
Ive been playing a MIM Strat for a little while now, as well as a Yamaha acoustic, and have owned a good few other guitars over the years, including a Bellini, a Jackson, Hohner, Takamine, and many basses, Uke's and Strat type's. Ive loved almost all of them, for various reasons. As Ive mentioned already in another thread, I finally had enough money and interest to start playing again after many years of absence. Ive always wanted a LP, so ended up purchasing a pretty unique finish Studio off of eBay. I waited over a month for delivery, until finally receiving a mail from USPS saying they had lost her. I did however get refunded, and consequently ended up finding Angie in a classifieds ad up in Pietermaritzburg. Previously I wasnt a fan of the Cherry burst finish... well that was until I picked her up, and tested her on the vintage Vox amp at the sellers house. It was like a light went on in my soul man. I got her home, worked on her all afternoon with settings, re-buffing frets and re-strung her. Plugged her into a Marshall, and she sang like a cross between a Banshee and Eartha Kit. The fat traditional neck, feels like smooth blown glass, Ive set the neck and string clearance just short of fret buzz. Her flame top is beautiful as well... but mostly Im blown away by her voice.
Ive recently started composing again, and I dont think I could do it without her.
Now... after the fact, I reckon the other guitar didnt arrive for a reason, and in a way Im actually glad things worked out the way they did. Im happy now :-[
The MIM and Yamaha are packed away at the moment. I will still play them, but right now Im just enjoying Angie. A mate will be dropping off an archtop sometime which I will be testing, but I dont think anything other than Armageddon would separate me from my go-to 8)
