Its something that's asked of me a few times.... I like to place the DC socket on the side next to the input jack, but I'm sometimes asked to place at the head of the pedal.
What's your guys preference?

I mostly prefer it being at the top, side means it doesnt work nicely with my daisy chains

Top for me too. neater and out of the way. If you have jacks on the side it lets you easily route power lines away from audio.
I prefer jacks up the top too as it works better on a busy pedalboard.

Yeah, every pedal with a DC port on the side ends up just getting in the way. Like Alan said, especially with busy pedal boards. I found it to be a problem even with my tiny board.

Well this is interesting. I've never paid it much attention, but I always thought the side better. Although, looking at my pedal board, out of the 8 pedals on my boards, only 2 has the socket on the side... ???
