Alter-Irving Band's new single play-listed on 94.7

Howzeeet.

This is our new single that's been play-listed on 94.7. A while ago I posted a version of this song that we recorded in my Garage Studio. A month or 2 later, we did the Save the Rhino CD launch at The Victory Theatre and Mark Beling, who was also on the bill, saw and heard the band live for the first time. He was sufficiently impressed by the song to offer to record/produce/and mix the track for us at no charge.

So after 2 days at Mark's studio, this was the result. Great Mix. Great sound. Leon Played an Acoustic kit, can't remeber what it was, but he used his Orange County Custom snare. Mike used an active Warwick 5-string bass. Cindy used her Ovation 12-string and Stewart played his Crafter Acoustic.

I used my '73 Strat going through the Kemper Profiling Amp and I also used some very expensive Acoustic Guitar of Mark's. Once again, the make and model escapes me, all I know is that it was a bloody nice bloody nice guitar.

Mark's drum kit is a Sonor (Germany), and the acoustic must have been his Cole Clark.

Awesome stuff Arno, But I am in two minds which version is better.Cindy's vocals are better in this new version, but I think I preferred your arrangement of the song.

Don't tell anybody, but so do I. The other version is a bit faster and heavier on the bottom end which, to me at least, gives it more...oomph. Then again, the one that I mixed and mastered is not the one being play-listed now is it? Either way, the main aim was to make it radio-friendly enough to get played and from that point of view, we succeeded.

She lived there for 16 years, only came back about 6 years ago.

I cant flaw the production mix, or playing, but I'd roll back the Nashville setting on the Melodine.

Bono sings pretty neutral, not with a 'aangeplakte amerikaanse aksent nie', the guy from Big Country has a bit o an Irish accent. Its like the 'producers' I meet who speak Zulu with an 'American' accent, or the vocal coaches on Idols who tell the contestants to sing that way, pointless and ridiculous imho.

I did not check, but is this GFSA, or "Averatu is always right?"
