USA, Europe... NO SA???
wtf???

Jack-Flash-Jr

Dude... because it's the Summer Sonic Boom... it's just too wintery to extend the specials our way ?

$100 rebate... What's that, like R850 bucks? Aagh naah Norman, that's peanuts. Remember, here in South Africa you automatically qualify for a 30-40% discount of the sticker price just by asking for it.... ? ???

<sigh>

Because Europe and the US both have a branch of Fender. Locally they are handled by an importer and rebates are by their nature from the manufacturer not the retailer. Once again - we simply do not and cannot move the numbers to make a marketing drive like that a viable thing to do locally. We also don't have MAP which ensure the seller making a fixed profit for moving an item.

It's entirely likely the Fender mag will show up here and be given away for free. They usually do, even though Fender charges the local distributor for them and there is a big import duty on magazines (even ones being given away for free, and even catalogues). Next time you pick up a free, glossy, full-colour catalog from a shop counter and take it home with you to perv over, remember that it costs the distributor anywhere from R50 - R100 to give it to you for free (and then you'll still ask why stuff is expensive here).

one of my students just bought a Fender custom shop NOS 60's strat new from US via online seller ........ and sure it was bought untested......but with a return policy , it was affordable for what it is..... the guitar is fabulous .... .... no issues and it took less than a week to ship .............

Buy Fender guitars from your South African retail music stores, not online through the Global shopping network.

USA, Europe... NO SA???
wtf???

You know why not in SA.

Because South African guitarists would take the $100 rebate, buy 2 Fender cables for $80, and ask the music store for $20 change. ?

Why?

Not only that, . . . .

All their competitions, features, and speials are only geared for the USA/Canadian market. You try and enter a "Win a Fender" competition. . . .yeh right!
Bunch of wussies, man. We pay so much for their products in this country, the least they can do is include SA in their coverage.

My "whine" for the day . . . . . :-[
