Really great stuff. I don't know the song. Is it yours, or have I been living under a rock?

The guitar comes through very clearly. Hard-core '60s Motown sound happening there. Love the synchronised horns.

Vocalist is really, really good. But why's she hiding behind the music stand leaving the drummer to be the centre of attention? She really needs to be out in front. Likewise it feels like there's a left and a right hand side band - the horns, and the electric guitars/bass. The vocalist in the centre will unite all the action.

But great sound, and you look like you really know about putting on a show.

Absolutely ! Very good. How the heck did you get a horn section together? ? We've been struggling for 3 years just to put a 4 piece together :-\

Agree with SM about the placement, except I'll add Vocalist centre, and guitarist closer to the middle, shove the bassist to the side ?

I agree with the comments made by SM and Sean about the vocalist but I'd go one step further; Tell her to memorise the lyrics and lose that music stand! In my mind there is nothing that kills the vibe of a band like a vocalist who has to read the lyrics off of a sheet of paper. C'mon, of all the musos there, she has the easiest part! She should be prancing up and down the stage and impart energy to the whole scene, not have her nose glued to a music stand.

Either way, she has a very good voice and the overall feel is very good. Well done.

Definitely agree with you all on the comments about the vocalist but all can be explained by something I should have mentioned earlier....
We don't have a vocalist at the moment, shes a friend of the band who was filling in, she does shows regularly at theatres around the greater Durban area. So literally this was her second time singing with us (only 1 practise...impressive hey? I was suuuuper impressed with her voice as well!)

The song is a song I wrote, I wrote the words and melody and guitar parts, the brass section and everyone else came up with their own parts (though the brass section is often entirely written by the trumpet player as in this case...)

Took the easy route, I joined them rather than them joining me ? I replied to a gumtree ad for a cover band and then started writing some songs which made everyone want to do original music. I'll probably post some more vids at a later stage, we did film the whole gig so will post some other songs at a later stage ?
