ok.. So I'm really into cars. I was on the point of buying a supra. Had the money and eveyrhting. Just had to say, Hey ship it! But I got talked out of it and so I faded a bit out of the drag racing scene.

After a while I bought a brand new 2008 Ford Bantam and desided to keep it stock. A little bug started bitting and I only did small things. decat, 252 cam(sohc) 57mm exhasut and freeflow.

I was on my way to the voeltrekker monument and i heard a golf 3's DV(Dump valve.. and for extreme noobs.. the things that goes ttttttssss on a tubro car). And I was hooked! It was like a bad drug! I just had to turbo the Bantam. It was a 1.6i... Notice I said it WAS a 1.6i.

So I talked around and desided I'm going to turbo it. But I just thought that 120kw on the wheels was just not enough.. So I'm doing a...

2L Mazda EGI 16v conversion. T61 turbo Dictator Management. Scat conrods(hold 800hp) Custom built side shafts. Mazda 626 turbo gearbox. Large Intercooler. and a lot of other things.

I wish I could see your face when you read the next line..

Its only costing me R50 000....

What can the new Bantam do...

0-100 in 4-5 seconds. 0-200 in under 20 seconds. 400m potensial of 12.0s(yeah i know this for a fact) Can boost 1.2 bar on stock pistons and make 230kw+ on the wheels.

Later I'll get a set of Wiseco Pistons for R5000 and the rings( yeah sold seperatly!) for R2500. then I can start boosting 2 bar+ and make 300kw+ on the wheels.

I'm getting my baby back end November! I cant wait!

just a little fun fact... the fastest street legal 4 cylinder front wheel drive turbo only bantam is 11.5s on the 400m. With wiseco's I can do better. So the only thing in my way of owning the fatsest Bantam in SA is the damn pistons a slicks. A set of M/T slics, front runners and rims go for...... wait for it...... R35 000!!! Crazy!

I think it's unwise to do so much to your daily ride. Also what about the fuel? Aren't you worried about knocking? Fuel economy?

I also drive a ford bantam 2008, and it gets me and my equipment from point A to point B, what more do i need........a speed fine? ?(never had one of those)

Knocking> like ping or pre detonation?. Easy to solve. Only boost high when I have more the 95 octane in the tank. I can buy aquamist. Its a little thing that sprays methanol into the intake manifold. Meth's octane leves can be 120 octane! Thats cold enough to start freezing the intake.

Any of you buy the speed and sound will know who marco versloot is. His honda civic does 0-200 in 7.4 sec.!!! He runs meth on the car!

Hehe, don't read the SNS, more of a production kinda guy, I used to be very interested in design and such, and with that and all the safety regulations, it's good to know about how a car works, and I just have a passion for cars ?

lol! well if you ever have a question about something you can ask me. I know a few people who to go to if I dont know the answer. The conrods are the most expensive thing!! Not the engine or gearboc or even turbo! The custom side shafts are R5000.. but the conrods are... R9000!!

who is rob green? it sound fimilliar. I know Annie. the boss at speed and sound. Gassed, he has the fastest uno tubo in SA. and a shit load more.

i hope to god you spicing the brakes. everyone does the engine up and forget the brakes and bang can't stop the car ends in a lamp post .

good friend of mine his son did up a golf 3 this car was retarded went like a bat out of hell , had stock brakes thou . the son now lives very close to me in west park cemetry

1. Who's doing the build for you? Marco?
2. Who ripped you R9k for Scat? Eagle rods are more than adequate and even Mr. Conrod (local H-rods) would be more than sufficient.
3. Why the T4-T61 A/R70? That's going to boost very late and very hard. Not ideal for anything used daily. You're dropping the comp ratio so anything out of boost is going to feel like a 1100 Uno.

12's are a tall order, even with the shafts. What suspension will you be using?

ps: If you haven't figured it out yet, would you like me to see what Annie is wearing today? ?

hahaha! wow spyke. never thought you would be on this forum. I dont really want it to go into boost in the streets. Petrol prices are a pain. 12s wont be too bad. George Kaplan's kadette does 12.4 and he only has a turbo.(I worked on the motor. There is no hidden thing there. Straight up T6# turbo and ARP bolts in the conrods) The A/R is 64 I think. So it will boost a bit sooner. Nope not Marco. A guy in Randburg. DK Performance.(The guy does nice conversions. Very clean and does not use kaka parts) I didnt know Marco did conversions. If I knew I would have sent it to him. The only thing I dont like about the bantam is the leaf springs. and not coil suspension. But I have heard a few rumors that you can tweak the leaf springs a bit to get the ass in the air.

no I dont want to know what she is wearing! you perf! hahaha!

Edit.. I forgot to answer the Q about the rods. The guy just said it would cost 9K for them So I figured ah let him do his job. Doesnt really bother me to be ripped off a bit. I'm also using a mazda 626 turbo gearbox.. theres a nother clue as to who I am on the SnS forum.

hahaha! I have told a lot of people what I'm about to tell you.. Basic on how things work are very easy. But as soon as you go deeper into it then things become very confusing if you dont know what your doing

If you're not wanting to boost on the streets then I fear that you may be a little disappointed. Unless I'm missing something, that's going to be a pain out of boost.

Marco doesn't build as such, but he's been known to do a favour or two for guys here and there.

The leaf springs may just be a problem. While you can re-profile them, not much can be done about the rebound rate. Lifting the tail will help your launches but make it a handful on the road.

Don't troll the SnS forum much anymore... only chip in where needed. Guys don't know how to use the search feature. ?

lol! I will boost on the streets. But not very often Whats the use if thers no decent talent here. Only thing here that I would like to dice is an OPC and the MK3 golf that had the turbo. I owe him a beer. If he didnt go turbo then I would never had. I get my fair share of craving speed. But I want to messure it against fast cars.

I hate those leaf springs. Did ford forget how coils work! lol! I dont think a street Bantam will look very good with the ass in the air. You should know... How much work is it to replace the leaf springs with coils?

Maybe there's no talent there, but there sure is here! hehehehe!

Never heard of anyone replacing leaf springs with coils, and I doubt this would be easy, mainly due to the top shock mounts. The only half-tonner that runs coils is the Corsa C utility.
