Oh yea!....but they definitely have a more Metallic edge than the trad punk bands of the seventies.

Agree with everyone else, go for it but I do agree with one of the other comments, make sure you have the time.

Well thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, I think I'm still a little in shock going from playing guitar as a hobby in the spare room to actually playing with other people, and being told that I'm not completely rubbish. I will give it a full go and see where everything leads. I might not even be asked back after the first couple of practices , but saying no would just make me kick myself later for not even making an attempt.

It's not far off from what I normally play, so now it's just a matter of forcing myself to not be lazy and play on my feet 100% of the time now, and lowering my guitar strap a bit ? . I have been fortunate enough to learn most of the songs that I have chosen to tackle in the past all the way through, so the "work ethic" is there, now the practicing needs to intensify and my technique should follow.

I just hope that I can fit everything in around work, family,life and and and.... But it's early days so we'll see. I'll keep you posted ?

Depends which albums. Early stuff like Punk's not Dead and Troops of tomorrow was pretty much stright-up hardcore punk IMO. Later on there's DEFINITELY a metal edge though.

The one thing that I regret, is not playing the guitar with other people from the start...........it really forces you to push up your game and damn, it's so much fun.

Jamming with others will make you improve 100 x faster than sitting and playing by yourself, most importantly because it teaches you feel and timing...
